"Twice Betrayed: Military Sexual Trauma"

After she found out she had PTSD as a result of being raped by her basic training instructor at Lackland Air Force Base, Virginia Messick got a tattoo on her shoulder with the quote, "Never a victim, Always a Fighter." The instructor, Staff Sgt. Luis Walker, is serving 20 years in prison for raping another recruit and having illicit relationships with 10 women in basic training. Walker is one of 33 basic training instructors who were under investigation for allegations of misconduct with 63 recruits and technical students at Lackland AFB.
