"LIFE-CHANGING DOSE"

"As a community we have been quietly suffering, long dreading the worst, and the worst is here," Susan Klimusko tells her city council. Hundreds of concerned residents and parents including Klimusko and her husband Ray, middle, pack the chambers to demand city officials address a spate of drug overdose deaths in a town that has long been proclaimed one of the safest in the nation. Susan, who lost her son a month before the meeting, warns the community about the prevalence of heroin usage among young people, many of whom she says get their start with prescription painkillers.
